Navigating Public Access Policies

Most U.S. federal agencies require grantees to make the results of federally funded research publicly accessible. If your work is supported by federal funding, you are responsible for complying with the public access policy of your sponsoring agency. Because these policies vary by agency, understanding and meeting the requirements can be complex.

This site serves as a centralized University resource to help researchers track, compare, and navigate federal agency public access policies. Here, you will find detailed information on the policies of many federal funding agencies. If the agency that funded your research is not listed, please use the feedback section to contact us.  We may be in the process of developing guidance for that agency, or it may be a less common funding source that requires individualized review.
